Founded in January 2000, ShieldIP is a provider of Digital Rights Protection (DRP) technologies for software and content developers, offering end-users transportable licensing options, fair use and privacy. Solutions target software and content developers who are concerned about software piracy and illegal use of their digital content. ShieldIP, a privately held company, is headquartered in New York with active Business Development offices in Silicon Valley. The lead investor is Charter Venture Capital of Palo Alto, California.

Customers include a broad range of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) within the consumer and business spaces. ShieldIP is building strategic partnerships with operating system and computing platform providers.

ShieldIP Solutions and Services

ShieldIP solutions allow for the distribution and sale of digital goods through existing value-added channels and empowers ISVs to securely leverage the power of the Internet for sales and distribution. ShieldIP offers this protection while totally respecting end-user privacy; moreover, license enforcement is transparent to the legitimate end-user and reseller channels. Software protection is achieved without changing the familiar purchase and use experience. Traditional brick and mortar sales and box distribution methods remain unaffected. Popular electronic licensing models such as Try-Before-You-Buy and Time-Based models are easily implemented and enforced. Internet distribution becomes practical, safe and profitable. Additionally, ShieldIP is unique in that it allows retroactive license protection of digital content.
